Under-Sink Plumbing
About This Project
Years of slow leaks had caused water damage under the kitchen sink. We replaced all corroded copper supply lines with PEX, installed new quarter-turn shut-off valves, replaced the entire P-trap assembly, connected a new garbage disposal, and treated the cabinet interior to prevent mold growth. The homeowner now has a leak-free, modern setup.

Challenge → Solution → Result
The Challenge
The cabinet interior had significant water damage and early-stage mold from years of slow, unnoticed leaks. The corroded copper supply lines had developed pinhole leaks at multiple joints, and the old gate valves were seized open — meaning any repair required shutting off the entire house water supply.
Our Approach
We started with a full assessment and photo documentation of the damage. The cabinet interior was treated with an antimicrobial solution and sealed with a moisture-resistant coating. All corroded copper supply lines were cut out and replaced with PEX using push-fit connections for reliability. New quarter-turn ball valves were installed on both hot and cold lines. The old PVC P-trap (which was improperly sloped) was replaced with a properly graded assembly, and a new InSinkErator garbage disposal was connected.
The Result
The under-sink area went from a water-damaged mess to a clean, organized plumbing setup. The PEX supply lines and push-fit connections eliminated all leak points, the new ball valves provide easy individual shut-off, and the properly graded P-trap drains smoothly. At the 6-month follow-up, the cabinet interior was completely dry with no signs of returning moisture.
Key Work Performed
Mold Remediation
The water-damaged cabinet interior was treated with professional-grade antimicrobial solution and sealed with a moisture-barrier coating to prevent future mold growth.
PEX Conversion
All corroded copper supply lines were replaced with color-coded PEX tubing (red for hot, blue for cold) using reliable push-fit SharkBite connections — eliminating soldering and reducing future leak risk.
Disposal Installation
A new 3/4 HP InSinkErator garbage disposal was installed with a properly wired switch, air gap fitting, and dishwasher drain connection — completing the under-sink modernization.
